The Black Notley Community Association is a registered charity that serves the
local community and is run by volunteers. The BNCA is located at 'The Recreation Hall', John Ray Gardens in the village
of Black Notley. The recreation hall was formerly the Sports & Social Club of the Notley hospital. The Sports & Social
club held its final function on New Years Eve 1992 following the closure of the hospital.
In an attempt to re-open the facility, former members of the old Sports & Social Club banded together to gauge the interest
in the local community. Subsequently a large committee was formed and the BNCA was founded. In the summer of 1993,
control of the building was handed over to the newly formed BNCA. Without funding, but a lot of dedication the new committee members
worked together to re-open on the 17th September 1993, having also secured a licence to sell alcohol.
